Man Shark

Shade Preview!
Hello, fellow Spoils players. Daniel Sotelo here to make your day a little brighter. As the 2012 National Constructed Champion, I am here to present to you a special preview card from the highly anticipated Shade of the Devoured Emperor set coming soon to a local gaming store near you. Due to me presenting the Spoils world with my mono-Arcanist deck, "Barney," I was given an Arcanist card to spoil.
I present to you the distant relative of the Land Shark...MAN SHARK. Now I must admit, when this card was sent to me and I opened it up, I laughed out loud. Man Shark is a simple yet fantastic name for a card in the world of the Spoils.
Art and Flavor
At first glance, you might notice that the artwork is blurry in spots. Well, if you look a bit closer you will understand why. It will be just like that when the card is printed, so don't worry.
The flavor text is hilarious and plays well off the Land Shark. The artwork is just as hilarious as the flavor text, and the guy on the right puking sums it all up nicely.
In the Game
Let's take a look at this card now. At a glance, I feel this card is much better than his relative, the Land Shark. Trading Covert for one less threshold and one less cost works for me. Not to mention that you get the bonus for each opponent, making these Man Sharks pretty powerful in the new multiplayer format.
This makes me happy that the great designers this game has will not be blowing off multiplayer as it is great fun to mess around with. I believe this particular format is where this card will really stand out. If you have not tried the multiplayer rules yet, you and your group should really do so. With Shade right around the corner it will get much more attention and a bit more flavorful.
The ability on this card is a bit expensive but can be very useful in certain situations. With the hand manipulation that Obsession has, you have yet another way to get rid of those situational cards your opponent has in his hand waiting for that opportunity to mess up your plans.
But be careful!! If you use this ability too many times, you're giving your opponent resources that he can later use to regain card advantage.
A Mansharkian Challenge
I hope you guys enjoy the preview. Feel free to discuss this new card in the forums. On a side note, I am going to throw this out in the air right now. Anyone who dresses up as a Man Shark at Gen Con 2013 for one day will be bought dinner by me at any place they chose. If you get your buddies to follow suit, I will buy them all dinner!
