Come and Chat about our favorite game, heck, you might even find some one to play with!!!
wow, gotta say I wish I had waited on buying more 1st ed. Hopefully the cards that get rotated out are ones that rarely see play anyway.
Please no. Constructed needs a bigger card pool at this point in time, not smaller. There are good reasons to rotate cards out, but they don't apply to the Spoils yet.Originally Posted by Will Clark
People like formats that don't rotate because having your cards become unplayable just isn't fun. You should only be rotating cards out if the health of the format depends on it. Rotating for the sake of rotating is a horrible policy.
And you definitely shouldn't do it without a large lead time. With the list not public yet, SCC is far too soon.
I'm behind Kallisti on this. If the cards are being rotated out because they are known to create broken combos perhaps with stuff from Pink Harvest, then I would understand, but not if it is just an arbitrary decision.
Please correct me if I am wrong....
Part 1 220 cards
Part 2 165 Cards
385 Cards total
New Core Set has 300 cards
Isnt it 85 cards that were cut...and not 65 ??![]()

I was wondering if someone was going to ask that question.
I feel like rotating cards out at this point is a bad idea - Kallisti laid out the big reasons. That said, there are probably a bunch of cards that nobody would even miss (Voidal Webbing comes to mind), but it's not a good idea to make them illegal just because very few people play them. What was so smart in my opinion about First Edition was that it had bad cards. It had fodder that forced decision making during limited events.

Any chance we could get an official statement on whether or not the omitted cards in 2nd edition are going to be illegal for sure? AND if the answer is yes, for sure, they will be illegal in constructed, can we please get an explanation as to the reason why?
The cards in 1st edition parts 1 and 2 that are not reprinted will not be allowed in Open Constructed play. The only question is when. It will be based on when the cards actually arrive in the USA. As I stated earlier there will be a period where 1st editon and 2nd will both be legal but that period wont last long.
The reasoning behind that decision is that first editon part 1 and 2 have all but sold out across the glode (Europe is totally out). That makes is extremely difficult for new players to get their hands on the cards. We want players, regardless if they are new or old, to be able to get their hand on The Spoils.
Rest assured that the 85 cards that are not in Second Edition will not be useless. There will be a format where they are playable.

The packs selling out does not make the cards hard to get, as long as they are readily available on the secondary market, which I'm pretty sure is still the case and will be for a long time.Originally Posted by Will Clark

Those two formats will likely not be different enough to support 2 distinct formats. The end result is that one or the other will end up not played.Rest assured that the 85 cards that are not in Second Edition will not be useless. There will be a format where they are playable.
