I have looked through the rules and can't seem to find a word that defines "any card in play" like the word permanent in magic. This absence bothers me because I feel that defining such a word would open design space in a positive direction.

If "permanent" = "card in play", how could you open up design space by switching the terms...?If it's to apply to things that aren't in play (the way Magic uses "permanent card" to apply to things in other zones) we can just say "non-tactic card".
Yes I suppose, I guess what I meant is that having a single word for it is more elegant.

The word is "card." The "in play" is assumed unless it states otherwise.
Well that's simple. I was just noticing there's no boomerang clone (at least I don't think there is) and was wondering how that would be accomplished without gumming up the text box. Thanks.

You don't see a boomerang clone because resources are a bit more sacred. You generally aren't allowed to mess with your opponent's resources. So the closest thing are cards like this:Originally Posted by mockingbird

COST: Pick a non-resource card.
EFFECT: Put the card into its owner's hand. Look at your opponent's hand and choose a card in it. Your opponent discards that card.
