Thread: Universal resource

  1. #1

    Default Universal resource

    Universal Resource
    Type: Universal Resource

    Provides - Nothing
Counts as two when attached to your faction.

Flavor (perhaps not possible on resources...):
    "What ya got there?"
"Nothin', but a whole lot of it!"

I don't think this will be over-powerful and it could be included in every deck for acceleration purposes, but if you need to soften it more, you could add one of the following:

    1. Unique - Universal Resource

    2. When Universal Resource comes into play, return a resource you contraol to your hand or put Universal Resource into the discard pile.

Do you think it could work? It's basically your dual idea but without the thresh.

Yeah.. I had thought more about this last night.. And I think the way you word it is like this:

    Type: Universal Resource

    Provides - Nothing
When this resource is attached to your faction reduce the next numeric cost by 1.

Flavor (perhaps not possible on resources...):
    "What ya got there?"
"Nothin', but a whole lot of it!" I like this flavor text!

Another limitation option is to have it come into play attached.

The flavour is great, but losing 1 influence if this card comes into play I think is okay xP
Okay, it is a ressource, but like an Research Assistant who costs 2...

I like the concept of a double resource just not how you've worded it....

I mean yes it is worded like other cards and with its flavor text it does sound like a spoils card but it can't really give you the advantage of playing high cost cards faster like playing something that costs 4 turn 1 you would have to split it up to utilize the extra resource.

Though aside from just being able to attach it to your faction for no immediate reason (which I don't think is possible) to reduce the cost of the next card you play by 2. Or just grabbing a staple resource from the deck and putting it into play facedown.

Meh. I'm probably just over-analyzing. Though whether its made how you've worded or how I would like it, it's still your idea do with what I've said as you wish, if it does get made I'll probably still play it.

Well, it could be a card that reduces the numeric cost of the next card played, but I wanted to create a resource, because almost everything else can be easily destroyed.

Making it Universal and not a specific resource limits its threshold-bearing purpose and balancing it a bit.

If you would add a "search for a staple resource", you'll also adding a powerful toolbox effect that is now universal (instead of flavoring Banker).

Then again, you may want to change the wording or come up with something similar but different. Instead of making it universal, you could make one each for the five trades and just make it provide 1 thresh but still count as two or reduce the cost or whatever wording needs to be there.

Well with the first thing I thought with just reducing the next cost by 2 it would be more of an item then a resource though I'm not seeing how:

is as powerful as your making it out to be I mean the resource goes facedown so it can't count for threshold and I mainly picked a Staple resource or everything just so people couldn't just be oh I get this facedown because it has flipup.. And saying I get a Resource token just doesn't sound right....
