I am working with the largest gaming store in the metro DC area (holds regionals/shonen jumps for ygo and either GP or something like that for MTG) to become the tournament director/event coordinator for The Spoils. So far it looks good. I'm sure the store will be holding open beta tourneys, just not sure if I'll be running them/assisting or just playing. Which brings me to my question....

During open beta, will the event coordinator be able to play it the event they're running?

My guesss would be no, but they could always just do something for fun with Beta stuff, like Back Draft for example.

Great question. Also how many ppl will we need to have a sanctationed event (I know this one might be a little too early to answer)? I know I can get four people to play including myself. Five probably (if I had to run events and not play). Eight maybe (again including myself), but nine is impossible (lol...just kidding). But some idea of how people we will need would be nice to know. As well as who can hold events (will we need training? like magic judges???)?

At the very least, during Open Beta, feel free to play in events you run. It may change later, but who knows.

How do we become judges? is that even in the thinking or a possibility in the future? I am personally intrested and im sure a few others are. The only reason i don't for MTG is(was HS) but now thats over. And ill have time free during college. Will you announce signup for judges or at least the process?

We have some judges right now. We are in the process of determining exactly what our judge system will be. At GenCon (and other events) we will be training more judges.

Is there a certain individual I should attempt to contact at Gen Con to ask about a potential judging oppurtunity. I would be very intrested (not necissarly at Gen Con since Im already signed up for events) but at least when the games begins its release in my area. I guess what I'm asking is will there be a tenacious game designer there or at least a head judge to ask about judging?
