Thread: Interesting Combo (/Synergy?)

  1. Default Combo(/Synergy?) Station

As the set gets "spoiled" with each update of what new cards can be found, I thought it would be appropriate for a place where you can post what combos(/synergy?) you can find. I will start.

    Uncontrollable Jalopy + Dragon Catheter

It makes for an interesting pair of cards. As long as you can keep your Jalopy's strength the highest, it effectively halves the time it takes to make it an unblockable attacker. Along with getting a SPD buff from itself, it also gets a STR bonus from the other card.

So by the time you got your 5 counters on your Jalopy it will have 8/3/6 and will be unblockable. Along with that, every turn afterward, it's SPD and STR will increase by 2. So on the next turn it will be a 10/3/8, then a 12/3/10... you get the picture.

  2. Default More Combo Fun (Bump)

    Today's Combo Fun

    Hextilda, the Exiled Crone
    Arc Char
    Unique
    1OOO
    1/1/1
    Ability:
C-Pay 4. Deplete this card. Pick a card you control with at least 1 token on it.
E-Double the number of tokens on the card.

A very recent Arcanist character. I have seen little talk about this considering how many possibilities this could be used with.

    A Brief List of Possibilities:
    - Gore Engine (Baiting Beat-stick, Warlord)
    - Spiky Pumpkin (Escalating Character Damage, Warlord)
    - Domain of Depravity (Inevitable Character Doom, Arcanist)
    - Voidal Nullification Chamber (Quicker Character Destruction, Arcanist)
    - Avuncular Merlion (Repeatable Character Revival, Banker)
    - Oddment Collector (Ever-growing Beat-stick, Gearsmith)
    - The Time Traveler Tourist Trap (Massive Spawn Generator)

An example featuring one of the possibilities: The Time Traveler Tourist.
In a few short turns, this location could have over 64 tokens. If it has at least 20 tokens on it, it can be sacrificed to create X Micromajig Tokens, where X is the number of tokens on that location.

    So 64 Tokens = 64 Micromajig Tokens = 64 possible damage?

Some cards that could boost this idea and that could assist in speeding up the tokens is: Insidious Ecto-Manipulator or (the cheaper to use) Skimping Ecto-Manipulator.

I do hope others will post here as well on what they found. It always seems to be a very under-talked bit on the forum with each new set.

Are you talking about Time Traveler Tourist Trap?

It only requires at least 20 tokens (with a gear thresh of 6) before you destroy the location to put X Majics into play. X = number of cards in opponents deck.

    Here is a fun one:

    Armored Elf + Ecto Suit

    4rm0r3d 31f
    5 EE
    3/5/3
This card loses 1 life for each token on it.
    Fall Apart
Cost - Pay 1. Put a token on this card.
Effect - Put a majig token into play under your control.

    Ectological Hazard Suit
    3 OO
    ATTACH to Character
When this card enters play, put a token on the attached character.
The attached character gains 1 strength and 1 life for each token on it.
    HANDOFF
COST: Pay 1. Deplete a character you control that is not in a battle.
EFFECT: Attach this card to the character.

For 1, you get to beef up elf's STR AND get a majig.

  4. Default

    Nifty Combination ^
(Also pardon my forgetfulness of the correct effect)

    Another one I noticed:

    Framptle Tromwibbler, Lord of Bling
    Banker Character - Mau
    4GG
    3/3/3
    UNIQUE FRAMPTLE
Characters cannot attack or be restored
At the start of your turn, put a token on this card.
If this card has at least 2 tokens on it, destroy it.

What is a great way to abuse this Mau's ability so you can stall longer and not suffer from being bum-rushed by say... the Warlords? Why, with the card Furtive Investor of course.

    Furtive Investor

    Banker Character - Mau, Investor
    4GG
    3/3/3
    COVERT
This card enters play with 2 tokens on it.
This card loses 1 strength and 1 life for each token on it.
At the start of your turn, you may pick a non-resource card you control. If you do, remove a token from that card.

Effectively as long as the Investor doesn't die, you can continue to keep the tokens off your Lord of Bling.

    /////

I suppose as a bonus combination I present:

    Althalamund Mangod, the Iron Fist + P3pp3r 0f 1n54n17y

    Althalamund Mangod
Warlord Character - Althalamund, Sword of Great Justice
    3RRR
    3/3/3
    UNIQUE ALTHALAMUND
    Punch
C - Pay 1. Deplete this card. Pick a character. X is its strength. Y is twice this card's strength.
E - Inflict X damage to this card. Inflict Y damage to the character.

    P3pp3r 0f 1n54n17y
    Gearsmith Item - Gear
    6E
    +3/+3/+0
    ATTACH to Character
The attached character gains 3 strength and 3 life.
At the start of your opponent's turn, restore the attached character.
    SPIT OUT
COST: Destroy this card. Pick a character.
EFFECT: This turn, the character gains 3 strength and 3 life. Restore it.

The P3pp3rs appear to be the best way to go about making our new SoGJ character more durable so he can OHKO more enemies without attacking. Particuliary the final p3pp3r being 1n54n17y.

Sure you could merely go with the cheapest p3pp3r (B14nd P3pp3r), however if you want to cause real havoc, the final one is the best way to go.

Now why one may ask? Sure it makes Althalamund basically become a 12/6/3 without ever entering combat so yes he can one-shot most enemies except of course Mountainous Golem. Yet that is not the only reason you want the best P3pp3r on him.

The ability to restore him during each of your opponent's turn as well is the more interesting reason you want one. So after you have attached the p3pp3r on him; for paying a meager total of 2 resources during both turns, you can start going to town and destroying the enemy forces.

If the enemy your punching (might as well be Falco Pawnching) doesn't have 6 STR and 13 LIFE, it won't survive the encounter and won't knock out your Althalamund who will live to destroy another character.

Since it's his ability and not him in combat, he won't be as easy to destroy by cards that work with combat or try to hamper your combatant from attacking.

Even with just a B14nd P3pp3r it royally knocks out the Lord of Bling in one shot to help you still get your other characters into combat.

If you aren't as worried however if Althalamund should survive or not, Phalludrix the Impotenator makes for a good substitute for 3R.

I think a better combo with Framptle than Furtive Investor is Gilded Yurt.

With the Yurt, you can remove Framptle from game at the end of your opponent's turn. That will remove any tokens from it, PLUS you will be able to restore all your characters before returning Framptle to play.

While you still won't be able to attack, you'll at least be able to use abilities requiring depletion...
