The issue is that Arcanists in Seed are evil wizards, not the wacky quotidian ritual people of the world of First Edition. So, all of their "spells" have been named as such...just like in Seed. You can expect a little more spell-like feel from their tactic names in general.

That makes me a little sad inside.

So, in the vein of evil wizards I'll put forth another idea...

    Thought Crime
    Punishment should fit the crime...
Cost: Play in response to a tactic being played. X is the numeric cost of that tactic. Pay X.
Effect: Duplicate the tactic. Terminate the Tactic.
    ...and this method guarantees it

In my mind the art would be a person with runes burned into their forehead, in agony, as a vaporous form of themselves (ie. their ill thoughts) flogs them.

Well, I can't deliver exactly what you suggested, but I'm pleased to present the very first Open R&D inspired "finished" card! I put "finished" in quotation marks because this card isn't quite done yet. The effect may still be tweaked, and perhaps the name will change, but overall this is our first card with art.

I may be doing this with more cards very soon. :-)

Very hot - thanks Josh! I'm excited to see more as they become available.

EDIT: If you're still thinking of throwing some flavor text on there, with the art I'd put something like
Ooooh, that would have been most unpleasant

    Nice. Some notes.

    1. Website is gone, replaced with artist credit, which I've always though should be there.
    2. Tenacious -> AT, of course. But a copyright date of 2009. Set this year?
    3. Nice empty space in the middle between artist credit and copyright. Designer credit?
    4. Card name. "Thought crime" or "Thoughtcrime". The one-word version was the original IIRC.

The artwork and card should be copyrighted in 2009 since he just showed it to us in 2009 and the company has good reason to assert its copyright before we all get wise and start printing out copies of it and claiming it as our own

Nice to see things are getting done! Though I think that the name "Thought Theft" would suit it better.

And now I'm totally hyper about seeing more new cards on here!

Are we back to this again? You're a great contributor; don't make me smack you lol.

AHEM, for all the rest of you...the reason I react this way is because in the past we didn't in fact HAVE artists for cards. Therefore, we did not credit such art. For art that DID come from a particular artist, we gave them credit via the artist series.

Now, we're working with freelance artists and therefore each piece is fully done by an individual artist so crediting them is actually possible. And this was explained to kallisti a FEW times. lol

I'm glad to hear you like what's there. But please remember the card is still subject to edits.
