Thread: Is 75 cards to many?

  1. Default Is 75 cards to many?

I have a question for anyone thats actually played the spoils. Does having a deck of 75+ cards make playing this game harder. To me 75+ seams like alot. I mean i cant really think about building a deck when ive got 75 slots to fill. And woulding having that many cards make it hard to shuffle. Id personally rather have it be 50 but ive never played it before so you tell me. This is really my only concern otherwise it looks like it could be a good game.

I just started playing Constructed with a few friends. As far as deck design goes, it seemed like I'd have a core idea and then have a ton of slots to fill in with "stuff". When it comes to shuffling, yea, it's pretty hefty.

I'm curious as to why 75 was picked as the arbitrary number. Just didn't want to be 60 like that other game?

I believe 75 cards is a good amount for The Spoils. The reason being is all the drawing power you have. Currently, with The Tournament Faction card, you can draw every turn and pay to draw even more. There are also cards that give you incredible drawing power as well, Beatrix Winterbottom being the first that comes to mind. And lets not forget those mill decks that can easily be made using those crafty rougues...pillaging pirate, jackmove, heist planner, defenstrate, ect...ect.... In The Spoils you can actually move through your deck rather quickly. A 75 card deck is certainly not too much considering the draw/mill powers present on the cards. Just one mans opinion...............

By having a large deck size,it lets tg give us more drawing and searching. With cards like selective gluttony(amazing card btw) and beatrix,You can get your deck clear of the "fat" quick enough to make the 15 extras not matter much.

75 is a little rough with so few cards out there, but considering the cards that ARE out there, 75 is required. Anything less and I could very quickly show you a ridiculously broken format.

Seems right to me with all thecard draw. And as long as they don't do sideboards it all futs in a deckbox so i'm happy.

    Take one 60-card deck
Add in one 15-card sideboard (an "automatic" sideboard, if you will)
    And voila! 75 card decks.

After reading all of your replies, my opinion has been changed. I can definently see why 75 was chosen over 60.

I think that 75 is a fine amount. I really am not looking forward to shuffling a 75 card, sleeved deck. But, thems the breaks.

  10. Default I see what you mean

Yeah i see what you mean and it does make sense. But i still wish that 50 was the min. You could still run a 75 card deck. I gusse i'll just have to get use to thinking about 75 cards now.
