Thread: Colorado Springs

  1. Default Colorado Springs

    So, I'm spending the summer in Colorado Springs. It sucks here and no one plays The Spoils. There are also a ton of military bases, including Shriever Air Force Base. In their honor I bring you:

    Colorado Springs
    // Lands
    12 [STP] Rage

    // Creatures
    3 [1E2] Trophy Collector
    4 [1ED] Crazed Deputy
    4 [1ED] Oversoon Lightfoot
    4 [1E2] Morale Officer
    4 [1E2] Barbaric Rifleman
    4 [1ED] Creaky Old Swordsman
    4 [BET] Flaming Barduse
    4 [1E2] Infuriator
    4 [1ED] Plodding Brute
    4 [1ED] Scout
    2 [1E2] Ruthless Platoon

    // Spells
    4 [1ED] Strength In Numbers
    2 [1ED] Siege Machine
    4 [1E2] Distraction
    4 [1ED] Dragon Juice
    4 [1ED] Hammer Smash
    4 [1ED] Tactician Vacation

    Play guys, soldiers mostly, and draw cards. Use Morale Officers and Infuriators to up the damage. SiN does what SiN does, too.

    Absolutely wrecked by Shriever Attack, obv.

    Any thoughts?

    A straight Rage Deck. I like it. Really a solid build. Just to tweak it a bit try the following:

    In my opinion, Rage decks should always have Deadly Striker. Sadistic Colonel would work well. Replace the Infurator and Trophy Col. with them.

    Two other considerations to add: Pinch and Assimilation Center if you have it.

    Infuriator in this type of deck is awesome.

    I was just going to say something to that effect. He pumps the entire team, then swings next turn.

    I agree that AC and DS are strong cards and generally auto includes. However, they are both outside of this decks game plan. Ideally, it will be all over before I get a chance to play Deadly Striker. Quantity over quality, here. Striker was in the first version, but on turn three I'd rather play Infuriator, swing with everyone to put them below 10, perhaps well below, and drop a Trophy Collector. Then again, I am playing Scouts and Brutes, also 4 costs.

    Assimilation Center provides long game consistency, stacking your threats; its great to drop a parade of Strikers. Again, I'd rather the game was over before it reaches that point.

    By my own argument, Tactician Vacation doesn't fit the theme. I'm not sure about it being a four-of, as I'm generally not keeping resources open in the first few turns, until I'm sitting empty handed, hoping to play a 1-2 cost and draw each turn to keep the attacks coming.

    What do you think?

    Forgot to comment on Sadistic Colonel. I love this guy, and would put him in for sure if I was expecting to be seeing a lot of purple across the table. Which, actually, sounds like now. Not sure what to take out. Maybe drop Scout, Brute, and Tact Vact to 3-ofs, lose 1 of something else, and add? A straight swap with Plodding Brute?

    Sadistic Colonel > Tacticians Vacation in this build. While this is a casual deck, it is also a theme deck. Military right? The "COLONEL" is a proper rank and should be included. Not to mention he punishes opponents with extra damage.

    If this is trying to be more than tier 3 then you'll need those Tac Vacs. I also concur with the Sim Centers as a two of instead of the Ruthless Platoon.
    Ever wonder why people say "Penny for your thoughts" and you always want to throw in your "two cents?"
