Talking On Board Games Tournament Results!

Wow! No one expected this great of a turnout for our last Spoils Tournament, so I thought I would post a nice summary of the results!

We had 14 people attend our recent Spoils Draft: 2 packs of part 1 and 1 pack of part 2.

The final top 10 standings of our 4 round swiss was:

    1. Seth McClure
    2. Andy Collins
    3. Michael Kraack
    4. Bryce Callighan
    5. Jake Maxfield
    6. Kyle Wagner
    7. Byron Olson
    8. Willian Novak
    9. Joe Vetti
    10. Bryon Simpson

Congratulations to Andy Collins for his invite (Seth already had one), to Andy and Seth for their foil Runic Field Enhancers, and to Seth, Andy, Michael, and Bryce for their prize packs! Hope to continue seeing these great turnouts for our Spoils League, and it's definately not too late to join! Next Sunday at 4 PM we will be hosting a constructed tournament (with part 2), so make it out to On Board Games!

And now I know that I'm not playing anymore draft tournaments.

Not because this one sucked (it was fun), but because I hate the format, I don't ever need another part one card.

That's the problem with the game's base being spread over two sets. While it is meant to be played together, we end up in a situation where a lot of us have everything from the first set and would rather get more from the second.

    Are you serious?

You're not going to play in any limited event for the forseeable future? 1st. Edition is the kinda the basis for all sanctioned sealed/draft play, no?

We hope that you will change your mind about this Doughboy. I think that you actually did fantastic in the tournament. You won your first two matches handily (although I understand they were brand new players), against my deck you were unfortunately at the disadvantage that I ended up with an extremely amazing deck (which will happen when you are the only one drafting arcanist in a pod of 7), and your last match I think that you lost because you had given up before the game started.

I was watching your last game against Bryce, and he first turn runic cannoned...at that point you had already given up. In reality though you ended up taking him down to 6 influence, and I think that you made errors that you typically would not have if you were playing with winning in your mind. There were two occassions I saw you attack and allow your opponent to block and kill a character when it was unnecessary, not sure if the outcome would have changed, but it was so close that it very well may have.

Anyway, the point of this post is that you're one of the best Spoils players that we have. I enjoy playing you, and when I sit down against you I always take you as very serious competition. It's a pleasure to play against you in whatever format, and I hope you continue playing in as many events as possible. Besides, you know that at On Board Games even if you lose all your games you are still coming out ahead since we charge less for the tournaments than the cards you are receiving.
