Thread: Mono-Rogue - K to the Sizzle, help me!

  1. Default Mono-Rogue - K to the Sizzle, help me!

    I'm really trying to get this deck to work, but it seems to be too slow. I was wondering if anyone could give me some pointers on how to make this deck more competitve. I really like the Red Raven Synergies with coin flip, so if I can keep that, great. If not, no worries. The rares listed I would bump up if I could, but they are the max I own atm.

    Yo, ...., yo..... turn my headphones up.....TPShaydee....K Sizzle....put your tape decks on record.....1995....check my style out:

    // Lands
    20 [STP] Deception

    // Creatures
    1 [1ED] Pluck
    4 [1ED] Pillaging Pirate
    1 [1ED] Master Scavenger
    4 [1ED] Card Counter
    4 [1ED] Hyperphagic Sarcophyle
    4 [1ED] Red Raven
    2 [1ED] Heist Planner
    4 [1ED] Bipolar Sarcophyle
    3 [1ED] Swashbuckler
    1 [1ED] The Billionaire
    2 [1ED] Face in the Crowd
    1 [1ED] Dock Sentinel
    1 [1ED] Vander Malagut
    4 [1ED] Impulsive Abductress
    4 [1ED] Recondite Hunter

    // Spells
    4 [1ED] Scrag
    4 [1ED] Warehouse Raid
    4 [1ED] Catastrophic Betrayal
    3 [1ED] Rapine

    Thanks!

    heres an idea you may not wanna hear, but here it goes anyways. For stizzle add the Arcizzle. Skimping and Insidious are your friends. They add tokens. The DubR (red raven) gets its bonus from the token, not the the coin flip. Same on the Sarcaphizzy. Also, then u addizle the ejectors for mayhem, and other fun stuff. Just a thought, but mono anything isn't too hot right now. The Rizzogues don't have the item hate to be that competative by themselves. Just start checking out the Arcizzles nad you will see the synergy they have with rogues, its crazy weird.

    Drop:
    Master Scavenger
    Vander Malagut
    Dock Sentinel
    Recondite Hunter
    Impulsive Abductress

    Add:
    Snake Eyes

    A Splash color. Either go with Fromtheshadows and add arcanist cards--they have discarding tactics that can put fatties in the discard pile, or splash some other color. It's hard to run a pluck deck w/ only one Pluck (trust me, I tried) so maybe start w/ one elitism and one deception, and run like 12-16 deception in deck, and run all the great 1 threshold gearsmith search cards (meager research, prototype, etc.) so you can search for your pluck and the other pieces of that combo. That works surprisingly well. Either way, good luck and have fun

    Thanks for the tips Wovenhead and FromTheShadows. Based on your input and some experience playing with the deck I came up with 2 possible Decks. Here's the first:

    // Lands
    2 [STP] Deception
    15 [STP] Obsession

    // Creatures
    4 [1ED] Servile Centipede
    1 [1ED] Pluck
    2 [1ED] Heist Planner
    4 [1ED] Hyperphagic Sarcophyle
    4 [1ED] Bipolar Sarcophyle
    4 [1ED] Quotidian Ejector
    4 [1ED] Insidious Ecto-Manipulator
    4 [1ED] Skimping Ecto-Manipulator

    // Spells
    4 [1ED] Scrag
    4 [1ED] Snake Eyes
    3 [1ED] Rapine
    4 [1ED] Lugubrious Finger Trap
    3 [1ED] Catastrophic Betrayal
    4 [1ED] Remember
    4 [1ED] Quotidian Assassination
    1 [1ED] Ecto-Distillation
    4 [1ED] Very Big Hat of Invisibility

    The idea behind this one is to use your suggested abilities of token pumping in conjuction with the Sarcophyles and Very Big Hats of Invisibility. I also discovered a combination by accident actually. I put an Ecto-Distillation in as another method of getting my lonely pluck. But found I could use it in conjuction with Remember to get my Scrags/Snake Eyes/Rapines/CBs out faster. I would really like to put some Forgets and Quotidian Misfires in, but I'm unsure of what to drop.

    Heres the second deck:

    // Lands
    15 [STP] Deception
    2 [STP] Elitism

    // Creatures
    1 [1ED] Pluck
    2 [1ED] Heist Planner
    3 [1ED] Securitymajig
    4 [1ED] Basic Node
    4 [1ED] Hub Node
    1 [1ED] Epiphanal Mechanic
    3 [1ED] Swashbuckler

    // Spells
    4 [1ED] Scrag
    4 [1ED] Snake Eyes
    3 [1ED] Rapine
    4 [1ED] Catastrophic Betrayal
    2 [1ED] Lugubrious Node
    3 [1ED] I Got the Gear!
    4 [1ED] 1337!
    4 [1ED] Jacque's Trap
    4 [1ED] Precise Sabotage
    4 [1ED] Luteoderm Prototype
    4 [1ED] Meager Research

    This one focuses on pretty much all of the 1 and 2 elite threshold cards which you mentioned to get pluck and gear cards out ASAP. I really like the precise sabotages as it combats the rouge's weaknesses against items. I took out the Sarcophyles and replaced them with nodes since the token synergy is lost without Arcanist. I'm not sure if I like the focus of this deck though and will have to play with it a little to find out. Thanks for all the help. I'll continue testing these decks.

    Im sorry my brother that I could not tend to you sooner but I was busy playing this awsome game and the ladies so without further ado and with the new topbeat your laying down now which I like. Its time for a little....

    REMIX!!!

    Now one rule is with remembers in the deck you want to go by the rule of 3s otherwise you get too many beats in the mix and your going to get them stumbling all over so lets create some room with that.

    -1 snake eyes
    -1 Quotidian assassination
    -1 Remember

    Scrag is a nice trebel so we would leave it pitched at 4 but you dont have very much mill left so its not as useful so we will drop it down to 3.

    -1 scrag

    Putin all your tactics in the discard and then remembering them out is a long crappy chorus we dont want to hear so we are droping that ish.

    -1 ecto distilation

    Now token generation may seem great in conjunction with insideous but to be honest. Insideious locks you down alot for a nonblocking covert which honestly sometimes I forget even exsists. With the strong token focus the new fly beats are Voidial Perversion, and a lover of token generation Ferrous Ferret. Also fingertraps can be droped to 3 to make way for fresh forget beats.

    -4 insideous ecto manipulator

    also I might caution that since you dont have very many speed 4s anymore you may want to drop snake eyes in favor of some other better cards but thats or flesh out some of your 3 ofs.

    -3 snake eyes

    With these 2 mixed in you can get some fast pumping up. Voidial perversion targets and puts 2 tokens on the creature which in one play woudl make ferrous ferret a 4/4/4 scary. Now he is uncommon so I dont know how many you have but with what you want I present to you the REMIX tell me how it sounds and after you give it a listen holla at a playa.

    // Lands
    2 [STP] Deception
    15 [STP] Obsession

    // Creatures
    4 [1ED] Servile Centipede
    3 [1ED] Ferrous Ferret
    4 [1ED] Pillaging Pirate
    1 [1ED] Pluck
    2 [1ED] Heist Planner
    4 [1ED] Hyperphagic Sarcophyle
    4 [1ED] Bipolar Sarcophyle
    4 [1ED] Quotidian Ejector
    4 [1ED] Skimping Ecto-Manipulator

    // Spells
    3 [1ED] Scrag
    3 [1ED] Rapine
    3 [1ED] Voidial Perversion
    3 [1ED] Lugubrious Finger Trap
    3 [1ED] Catastrophic Betrayal
    3 [1ED] Remember
    3 [1ED] Quotidian Assassination
    3 [1ED] Forget
    4 [1ED] Very Big Hat of Invisibility

    Thanks man! I played this deck against my friend and he found it very annoying indeed. I ended up with a 20/20/4 Covert Ferret at the end of it and coulda pumped him to a 35/35/4 Covert the next turn if he survived.

    glad to hear keep testing some stuff out because Im sure you could find some stuff in playtesting that I can't just by giving suggestions. Everyone plays the game diffrently so what works for you might not work for me. Again Im glad you had fun and keep playing spoils
