Thread: Looking To Start A New Team

  1. Default Looking To Start A New Team

    Hello everyone!

I'm looking to start a new team for playtesting The Spoils. Heres a few guidelines I have for the team though. Anyone who joins needs to have at least some solid TCG background. Have you been competitive and successful in any other trading card games that will give you strong foundations for this game right off the bat? Members also need to be willing to playtest fairly extensively over any of the various online gaming programs. For programs that limit some connections, Hamachi is available to be downloaded to fix this. The last one is a bit interesting but something I've found has done wonders for teams I have had in other TCGs. I want the members not to live very close to one another. While it is great to have people to play against IRL, it leads to more competition, and players often end up holding back their best ideas or going behind each others backs or pulling shady metagaming tactics to be able to beat their toughest competition. In order to avoid this, it is generally best to try and pick players from different regions, since this is mainly an online testing team. The last part that I stress the most is that I want to have a team that is 100% leak free. I will start a private message board for the team, and whatever is discussed or created on that board needs to stay on that board. Leaking will not be tolerated.

While this seems like a lot of guidelines, I really want to focus on making a strong, legitimate team of good players who are willing to actually sit down, test matchups, and explore the metagame thouroughly in order to have the strongest advantage possible for their local events. I want to limit the team to 6 or fewer members, as that is plenty to succeed in a game. Too many can provide alot of problems. If you are interested in joining this team, just write me a PM about it. I may not be super active over the next week because I have to adjust to next semester's classes starting but I will do my best to at least stop on this site each day. I hope I don't come off as an asshole due to my team requirements, I'm not, I just want to make sure that people who ask to join are serious and here to be competitive and not join a team for the sake of being on one. Thanks for reading.

Your team requirements are about normal for an 'online team'. Hell, my team is in Metagame as the first 'official' International gaming team in YuGiOh. Multiple metagames allow for planning antimeta against everyone else. But unfortunately, the 'core' team I was on lost control of the team and we ended up with 20+ members, making the 'core' team move on to other things, mostly internal play testing.

Since I've quit every other card game ((I play any game constructed if someone else provides the deck, and I'll game limited if I have the spare cash.)) I could do online playtesting. While I personally don't have any ranked wins, I do have competitive experience in YuGiOh ((And helped design decks that made top eight in SJCs.)) and am a playtest partner for a Magic competitive player ((Though he has nothing to speak to.)). My competitive experience is fully grounded in the Spoils. First game I cared about to 'go pro' in.

    Default Im up for it

Hey, i am definitaly up for joining a team and cooperating in extensive online playtesting whenever i can, nobody around me (PA) seems to play, so i want to get back into the game, cause i dropped off the radar after the preseason and first set came out, i made a few decks, and played my friend, but he doesnt have his own cards or anything, so id like to get more serious. I played Yu-Gi-Oh for a few years, winning daily events every few weeks at my local tcg store, and i played extensively for a long time until my deck was stollen :-/ . I think the spoils is a great game and i played it extensively during the beta, and when the first set first came out, and i think id be a good addition to any team, and id certainly like more people to play with.

If each player has 4 yoinks in their hand, and enough resources to play them, they could have a tug of war.

  4. Default Update

    Hey everyone,

Alright, besides the two posts here on the thread, I've gotten multiple PMs in response to the team. I am overjoyed by the interest people are showing, but as I was afraid of, I have been a bit busy with the start of spring semester here at the University of Akron. This doesn't mean too much, just that I haven't been over attentive on the boards. Anyways, I plan on finishing up a quick private message board this weekend for a team, and I will get back to people about inclusion and give them a URL and we can take things from there. Anyone who can post their placing at any WCCs please do so as that is a great indication of how your doing in the game, as right now I have no real means of telling strong players from casual ones. ( I can be bribed for admittance via playsets of Heist Planner/Pluck...BOTH earn you the title of " Team Captain ". It doesn't mean anything, but hey, it sure does sound snazy no? ) Anyways, I am off to a IQ in a moment, and some playtesting for the WCC in Warren OH to try and put the finishing touches on Win.dec over here, so I have to cut this post short. Sorry for the lack of follow up on this since it was originally posted.
