Default A Couple more ruling questions I'm not 100% sure on

    Hey,

yes, I'm a judge, doesn't mean I'm 100% on the rules quite yet. And I want to be ready for IQs and WC. So here goes:

    1. I'm reading the whole "To Stack, or Not The Stack" thread, but a couple of questions came out of it for me, such as Damage. When character deal combat damage to one another, is there a Window in which characters can play tactics or abilities before dying (Say play Rapine on a character that has taken lethal damage before he hits the graveyard).

    2. Cost reduction: Can cards that reduce the cost of other cards, such as L33t or Research Assistant or Towering Researchmajig, can be used for abilities that require numeric costs or only cards that you play. I have heard that l33t can't affect you're Faction card, but can the others do so?

    3. Drafting: Is it 3 packs build 45 card decks? Considering a 45 card deck would play 12-14 ressources, and packs are 13 cards, you're only cutting 6-8 cards from your deck. We've been doing it, but it seems hard.

    4. Beta Draft: We've also gotten our hands on some beta boxes from a retailer and we are wondering if deck sizes were smaller during the beta, considering it was only 10 card packs.

    5. Faction Card: Before you're development rule, can you activate the other abilities of your faction card (specifically pay 3 to draw) as many times before you activate you're start of turn ability, or is there no window before activation.

Thank you all for your help. I know some of these can be found in the rule book, I'm but I know you guys can tell it to me faster and help me prove it to my buddies with a lot less headaches.

    How to Resolve a Battle
    1. The attacking player can play tactics or use abilities any number of times.
    2. The defending player can play tactics or use abilities any number of times.
    3. Find the highest speed value among characters that have not yet assigned battle damage. X is
    that speed.
    4. All attacking characters with X speed that have not yet assigned battle damage assign damage
equal to their strength divided however the attacking player wants to the blocking party. If there
are no remaining members in the blocking party then the attacking characters assign their
damage to the faction or location being attacked instead.
    5. All blocking characters with X speed that have not yet assigned battle damage assign damage
equal to their strength divided however the defending player wants to the attacking party.
    6. The attacking player can play tactics or use abilities any number of times.
    7. The defending player can play tactics or use abilities any number of times.
    8. All assigned battle damage is inflicted simultaneously.

    9. Repeat steps 1 through 8 until all characters in the battle have either assigned their battle
    damage or have been destroyed.
10.Deplete all surviving characters in the battle.
    Should answer your question #1.

EDIT: I believe beta decks were larger at 50 cards, but then they cut it to 45 which I guess made the game a ton better at the time. I didn't play beta so I am not 100% sure. Just what I've heard.

1: the leathal damage has not been taken when the tactic/ability is played... the damage is inflicted after that window... it goes
active player assign damage for x speed
other guy assign damage for x speed
    you play tactics
    they play tactics
damage is inflicted simultaniously... after damage is inflicted the card dies you dont get a chance to play tactics or abilitys on it..

    2. some cards reduce numeric costs on a card that includes your faction because it is a card... but some like 1337 reduce the next numeric cost on a card you play this turn.... so only cards in your hand can be have the cost reduced in that manner

    3 yes... drafting is hard

4 deck size is still the same but card pool is not... you get to open 4 packs in an open beta booster draft 1st pack pass right 2nd left 3rd right and 4th left

5 all start of turn triggers will resolve at the start of turn you may not play abilitys inresponse to this so when the turn starts the triggers occur and you may not activate any abilitys until the trigger resolves... if multiple triggers occure at the same time you choose what happens first

In response to 5, all "start of turn" rules/abilities/triggers etc, must be done before using any other abilities. So no, you may not pay 3 to draw once or twice before following the "at the start of your turn" rule as stated in the Develope Rule and Restore Rule.
Home at last!!!! Strangely enough though, I have even less time to myself than I did in Kuwait!

Just a quick clarification on drafting:

Booster Drafts = 3 packs (4 if you happen to be using Open Beta packs)
Passing is left, right, left (and right for OB)
Decks are 45 card minimum (including staple resources, not including faction)

The passing begings to the left.

Also, OB drafting requires a supple of resources be on hand for the players to use. If you recall, there are no resources in any OB boosters.

    Just FYI.
