New Mechanic - Off-Trade Flip Up/Abilities- Multi-Trade Abilities
So I know I'm not the first one to mention Multi-Trade/Threshold cards, but I haven't seen this yet (point me in the direction if someone has posted this before):
What if instead of this:
Generic Rogue Banker Character
Cost: 3
Threshold: [G][D]
2/1/3
Rogue Banker Character
Payout
Cost - Pay 3
Effect - This turn, this card gains 1 strength, 1 speed, and Covert.
A Multi-Trade character looked like this:
Enterprising Bandido Lass
I'm not sayin' she's a gold digger...
Cost: 2
Threshold: [D][D]
2/1/3
Rogue Character
If a card that provides at least [D] enters play under your control, this card gains 1 speed and Covert this turn.
If a card that provides at least [G] enters play under your control, you may pay 1. If you do, put a token on this card.
This card gains 1 strength and 1 life for each token on it.
It's a card that works in a Rogue deck, that happens to get better if it's also a Banker deck.
Other uses for this type of Off-Trade Ability are:- Abilities that require a different Trade's Threshold to use than to play the card.
- Flip Up costs that are a different Trade Threshold than the one if you played the card.
- Optional Flip Up triggers - "If you control GG when you flip this, do X. If you control DD, do Y. If you control GGDD, do both."
- A tiered Universal Location (like Heist Training Grounds et al) that does different things if you have OOO, GGG, EEE, etc.
Obviously this is not a comprehensive list, but I think that this type of card could be a good place to start. Multi-trade cards will exist eventually, and this is an implementation that eases us in to a full-blown 2-trade card like the first example.
