Thread: Rogue Character - Protector of the Innocent

Default Rogue Character - Protector of the Innocent

    Protector of the Innocent
    3 [D][D][D]
    Character - grifter
    2/4/3

    This card enters play depleted.

If another character not in a battle party is destroyed, its controller may pay 1. If they do, instead reduce the damage inflicted to the character this turn to 0.

    ENCOURAGE
COST: Deplete this character. Pick a character not in a battle party.
    EFFECT: Destroy the character.

I like the card idea however this flavor seems more like banker to me. And the card doesn't really need the second ability, the first is strong enough as it is.

I think the card would need both abilities to be good.
The first ability, I think is just ok. I don't think it's that strong. Most kill cards just destroy the character, not deal damage. Since it has to be a character not in battle, it really limits the use.

That doesn't matter, because it says "instead". It replaces the whole destruction event with "remove all damage", so it will save the character from 'destroy' effects as well as direct damage effects.

If I were wording this card, I'd probably add "instead, the character isn't destroyed and reduce the damage". Technically the bit about not being destroyed isn't necessary, but it would obviously make the card easier to understand at a glance.
