Research/Senior Research Assistant Question

Hey all! My group is new to The Spoils and we are loving the game. To start things out we each picked one faction and divided out all our booster packs as such. We plan on moving to duo-factions soon but in the mean time we have a couple questions. Honestly our Gearsmith player has been the toughest to beat with a mono-trade deck and a smallish rare pool. This is for two reasons:

1. Toolbox elf and Doodmaker + largest cost effcient characters that are mostly commons and uncommons.

2. (And this one seems to be the toughest to counter for us) The massive resource advantage gained by the two types of research assistants. They force you to kill spell them because they can reduce the costs of faction abilities but then you don't have your important kill spells for the giant Gearsmith creatures! ARGGHH!

Anyway my question is this (just to make sure we are playing them right). The cost reduction from each assistant does actually stack correct? In essence you could deplete 3 research assistants to get one free draw? Four to get to play a free resource? The wording on the card seems to hint that maybe you can only reduce a cost by a maximum of one. Which is correct?

Multiple reductions from Research Assistants do stack. They all reduce the next numeric cost you pay. So basically you just subtract from the next number. And this you can do multiple times, just like in grade school math.
