Organizing Organized Play #7: Gen Con Afterthoughts

Hey boys and girls. This is your OP manager checking in after an amazing Gen Con. This year was one of our best both from a diversity standpoint and a sales standpoint.
For the Constructed Championships, there were no decks that were identical to each other and only one Rage rush deck. The rest of the events went well and had good turnouts.
Our Limited Nationals saw the top players battle until the bitter end and I know for a fact that Vince Chuan, our runner-up, is still reeling from his loss to Bernie Makino. He blames a turn one error that sent him spiraling out of control.
The members of our demo and sales team this year were at the top of their games. Jeff Millegan was, at one point, running eight demos at once. We filled all the allotted space Gen Con provided us and even commandeered additional tables to accommodate the need for demos and tournaments.
The future of The Spoils looks bright. With all the new players we acquired in Indianapolis and the impending release of Shade of the Devoured Emperor, I am truly looking forward to the things to come. I’m working on expanding our monthly events to include a few additional higher end tournaments that’ll take place in addition to the seasonal events.
These, plus the prereleases and release events for the new sets that are coming, should provide you, The Spoils player, with a great year of events.
See you next time!
