Yes, the Revolution event formats can certainly be altered to better fit the local taste.

Hey, thanks for the shout out :) Been pretty busy getting things set up here in Michigan as the deep-freeze sets in.

If anyone reading this is in central Michigan and has questions about the game or wants to request a demo, find me on the forums (same name) and drop me a line!

At Anime & Games Central in Lafayette La, we have a few players who are serious about the game and have talked about teaming-up for big events like this year's GenCon (which we hope to attend), but we really haven't made too much effort towards really organizing. Like team hopper, we all make decks we want to play, and I, personally, make decks I want to learn how to play against, and we play all of them as much as we can. We are actually more focused on honing our Limited skills, and really try to help each other make the best decisions for that format. For Constructed, I learned that pooling is always best, and apparently others in the group agree, but we do have separate pools. My pool is the largest (6 people) and also happens to get the most packs via winning, but there are some people chugging along on their own who have amassed a lot of cards as well. We all tend to give things away to each other, trusting that we'll get something in return later.

When it comes to our personal lives, we have groups within the group that do hang out together outside of table-top gaming, but often these ventures revolve around gaming in some way, whether it's sports, video games, or poker. I am close friends with some of the "members" and acquaintances with others. Our group is dynamic, containing very experienced gamers and newbies alike. It's interesting though, because if the game were bigger I'm not sure if all of us would be allied together the way we are. It's great that we've started this alliance early, because the more this game grows, the more valuable our connections will become.

Lester,

Ultimately, the TO can change the event to fit local needs. All formats posted for an event are the suggested format and by no means are set in stone, especially since the store pays for the kit. After all, how will anyone know what a given store does for their event? I'm also sure that Ian is fine with allowing flexibility to local play groups.

I'd like to express the concerns of the play group in Lafayette, La, by saying that I think it's a bad idea to allow the Seed III cards without a local ban list. We have played our own version of this format allowing only common cards to get away from Barney and Mono-Rogue dominating the format. Allowing uncommons gives Barney Wanton Wizard, which is scary, but the deck really sings with Geiseric, Thunderhoof, and Spatchocking. Similarly, Mono-Rogue only really loses the crests, Muddle Bugs, and Peculate... Otherwise, the deck is all there. These decks would be nearly unstoppable without many of the other competitive rares at our players' disposal. Again, I'm not against adding uncommons (because there are some really neat underplayed uncommons, and location removal is all uncommon or higher) but adding the stuff from Seed III is just too much.

I know I coined the idea, so I am of course biased - but I think it could be a lot of fun - even if old SJ did a card or two :-)

Meh.

Unless you pair with a media blitz of articles from those designers and get some people to care about it. Meh. As a player I don't care who designs the cards, just if their well designed and the game is fun. And no matter how "good" the card is I wouldn't want anything touched by Steve Jackson.
