Attacking party = card "A" w/ speed 4, "B" & "C" w/ speed 3.
Defending party = card "Z" & "Y" w/ speed 3.
"A" destroys "Z" and reduces "Y"'s life to 1.
"B" & "C" have to assign all damage to "Y", and the defending player's faction goes unscathed. Right?

Again that is my understanding. Until there are no defenders no damage to the Faction. However in your scenario the attacker could have sent A and B as one attack to destory the defenders Z and Y (if they can). Then use C to attack the faction. Remember you can attack as many times as you like and figuring out what to attack with, in what groups, and at what time is something that makes this game have more strategy than magic. Because your opponent could block with just Z, just Y, both or neither. So he or she has lots of choices. Think chess: figure out several moves and possible moves ahead.

Exactly my belief as well.
I just got done playing my first demo deck game (finally) trying to teach my wife. I was using Greed, she Rage. I got stomped royally. The great thing is, if I can teach my wife, I can teach anyone.:p
What to do in each step is simple and straight forward. How to conduct your turn, battle, everything.
It's the multitude of choices that will make this game stand out against all others.
