COST: When this card enters play you must pick a subtype (example: soldier, investor, majig, ritualist) of a character. Your opponent must do the same.

If a character that does not have any of the chosen subtypes enters play, destroy that character unless it's owner pays 2.

Woah. This is far too powerful. I see what you are trying to do here, forcing people to make thematic decks, but it will make, for example, a dedicated "soldier" deck lock down any other deck that doesn't have a theme.

Also, it may be used to generally make it more difficult to put characters into play, say if you play a Writ/Bile deck or the Research OTK.

It would be far more balanced (but also a lot less useful) if you could name a subtype that COULDN'T be played.

Changed it a bit - how about now?

Even as it is... I would at least make it cost 3-4.

Pretty the same;)

Exactly the same.. But the wording is more elegant and clean. Easier for a player to quickly understand what it does.

To avoid just shutting down some less thematic decks, what if the effect allowed the player to choose a character subtype and reduced the cost to play that type by one to a minimum of 1? This also might make it slightly more playable in limited

Stick a fork in it, it's Port Manteau!

I name Sharktopus!

Thatīs right, we get Port Manteau and such a card only would make theme decks, this is not so cool...

Port Manteau is really good, but not broken. It slows down mono-Rage a little if you name Soldier, Dragon, or (most likely) Sword of Great Justice. If you play this on your first turn and name 31f you shut down Toolbox Elf into Craghammer against you on their first turn. It hurts Banker if you name Mau... (almost) every Trade has a go-to character type. Arcanist and Rogue are the 2 with the least obvious, but against them you can still call Lurker and Martial Artist for value. This card is like Incriminating Photograph, if you know what you don't want to hit the table out of their deck, you name it.

And it is good enough I think :)
