Hallo,

the effect of Hidden Riuns says I may play a location (which was faced down).

Have I to pay the locations cost or can I play it for free:confused:

Thanks for answering :)

You need to pay the cost of the location. (Because it doesn't say otherwise.)

Whats the point of this card really? It doesn't seem all that useful . . . if I for some reason have to play a location face down I can then play it with Hidden Ruins and draw a card - whoop-de-doo. Why would this be something to play or rely on in a deck?

Because it's awesome with Arcane Research. ;)

It can also be useful to let you play locations at tactic speed. For example, on your first turn, play Department of Rejections face-down, then when your opponent plays Arcane Research in your end step, you can use Hidden Ruins on the Department to stop the Arcane Research.

I knew there was something I was failing to see with this, thank you for pointing that out. Arcane research makes sense too.

it also is a resource for 2 if it's in your discard...

also.. late game you can use to to reveal a face down location just to draw a card for 1 if you are in a tight spot (you dont HAVE to play the location.. just reveal it.)

with these cards you can effectively draw a card for 3 but break up the cost over 2 and 1 so that you can draw and play it more effiecently. While you DO still need a thresh provider to play it as a resource this is still very effective when trying to maximize resource usage and when things are tight.
