Id like to welcome me to the forums aswell :D

I look forward to the game. Since its ment to be a Tournament game only, it highly interests me. And I look forwards to organizing a couple events to try and get some interest at the FLGS.

Huzzah to competive play, and those gaming companies who support it!

A competitive game I suppose its at least worth a look I signed up for 4 events at Indy so this better be good. With the looks of the people behind it it should be.

hey turn which events did you sign up for? Which days and times?

I am to lazy to look up the exact numbers (EX TCGXXXX) but the times are....

8/10-10am-MTG Rav/Gpt/Dis/9th/Csp Sealed
5pm-Spoils Sealed
9pm-Spoils Draft

8/11-10am-Spoils Draft
9pm-MTG Team Limited

8/12-1pm-2,500 Spoils

How about you? I am also going to have some generic tickets in case there is any more events that may be intresting or any Spoils events that don't fill up. Where are you staying at? I'm staying with a friend in the hotel attached to the convention center. It would be helpful to talk to somebody about strategy as this is a brand new game. BEsides a little discussion on limited play never hurt anyone. Do you play Magic as well?

let us know what you think after you've experienced it. i'm interested in the game as i'm 26 already and looking for something with substance. i played mtg as a kid and then graduated to decipher. still play their star wars occassionally, but moved on to wars for the short time it existed. i'm looking for something new now. i'm looking at getting into vtes as 3rd edition comes out and it was suggested that might be a place to start. also mystical empire sounds interesting. i was thinking of going back to try game of thrones again as we tried the first two sets and weren't that interested in the muli-player structure. i've never played a miniature game either, but horrorclix, dreamblade (expensive!) and the star wars miniature game look like they might be worth a try. thoughts? suggestions?

I can vouch for Mystical Empire - I play it more then any other game out now.

Nice...reminds me of Josh Blue of Last Comic Standing fame from an episode of Mind of Mencia:

"I may have CP but at least I'm not Dee Dee Dee."

On an unrelated note, Josh was unbeleiveably funny. Having CP wasn't an handicap for him - it was an advantage - it gave him even more awesome material. LOL! If you didn't see the show go find some clips of him on You Tube...awesome.

How long is the learning curve for "The Spoils"?

Being a CCGer, you'll know how to play in about 20 minutes.
Figuring out how to play well...that's another story...
The Spoils could be the most strategic T/CCG there is.

Hello,
I am an assistant manager at Yottaquest, a game store located in Cincinnati, Ohio. We deal with many different CCG, from Wizards to Sabertooth Games. We host five different tournements weekly for CCG's, and we are always trying to inform our customer base of opportunities. I hope the game takes off!

I am really new to this game, but a veteran CCG player. I have played Pokemon and Magic for years, and I was very hot on the pokemon circuit ( I have played and top 16'ed at 2 worlds events). But those games have bored me, and Magic has turned into nothing more than a game with overpriced cards ( I sold a beta Mox Jet for an undisclosed figure, so I can afford to to play this game now. :) ) I digress. This game looks like a blast. Whats the tourney structure set up like, and as far as playability, how goes it?

Hey Terrence,

Welcome! The tourney structure is unique and without a doubt the BEST!

I have to say, The Spoils is what i was missing in my transition from taking a break from MTG and trying to find a new game with similar mechanics and not just BEAT FACE BEAT FACE or based of off WoW.

Please not. Most of us aren't 16 year olds. So you should be fine. Welcome, and remember that this is the best designed game in the last couple of years. FMA TCG was incredibly well designed as well, but with that game dead, this one takes the cake.

It's a pleasure to meet everyone! My name's Jenny; I may have met some of you at PAX (I was the Asian girl with really short hair who was mainly there for supporting her bf, but got sucked into the game instead ^_^). I hope that all of us get along just famously.

If you have Facebook and would like to contact me, go ahead and click on my link! If you have myspace and would like to contact me, go to myspace.com/krndoxy. If you do, please say that you know me from these boards. If you friend me and don't say where I know you from, I will not add you. Thank you for your cooperation!

Just to get this straight, Krn DOES NOT mean Korn; it means Korean. Too many people on 2darkpark got that wrong, and I just want to clarify that right now. And a doxy is a little biting fairy that Harry Potter fans might know about.

Also, does it really matter if you're a girl or not? We all like Spoils; who cares what gender we are?

Good luck to everyone in their future ventures!

Hi there, I'm Stu, I just started playing The Spoils about two weeks ago, it's a very intricate game and I have enjoyed it immensely. I started a gaming club in my hometown here in Ireland February just gone and we have been looking at different CCGs to adopt as a sort of Club Game that we could draft and play together without having to worry about peoples current collections and layers of old releases and cycles, this lead us to The Spoils and it is fast becoming popular in the club.

Anyway that's enough for my rant, hope to have good conversations here and keep abreast of the goings on of the game.

Hello! Well, I got introduced to the Spoils this year at GenCon and I must say my girlfriend and I were hooked. Now that I'm in college, I don't get to play with her anymore, but I must say it is one of the things that we do talk about. I entered my first Spoils tournament at GenCon, and after that I hadn't found many people to play with. Now that I've moved, I have found some really neat guys to play with, and I do hope that I'll have many good times to come playing the game. I'm not very good yet, but I'm sure with practice I'll be doing better.

P.S. Seed is awesome... adds a whole new level to the gameplay

Hi!

I've been playing CCG since 1994 (Magic), with some longer breaks during times when I had to look cool (mostly high school) ^_^. I started playing competitively during 2005 and my game of choice then was Yu-Gi-Oh! It was a fairly new game in Sweden at that time and it was Japanese in origin (I love Japanse stuff).

I was placed 4th in the Swedish National tournament 2005 and thought "Man, I'm good at this! I'm gonna put some more time and effort into the game.

2006 I was ranked 6th and my ego screamed at me that I was going the wrong way. However, I won the Sweden Nationals 2008, but lost a lot of focus after that and thus made a poor European Championship appearance. I decided to quit and sold most of my cards, but got back into the game during 2009 thanks to a number of really good trades. I needed a hobby and couldn't find anything else that kept me interested long enough.

I was placed 10th in the Nationals 2009 and, analyzing the game at present feel that there is too much netdecking going on and the game is far too speed-oriented. Players look at the Japanese meta from a year ago and build those decks now (Japan gets most cards earlier than us). Yu Gi Oh! also must be one of the most expensive card games there is, with some cards worth close to $200, and the booster packs are a joke, with horrible rarity classes and very few good cards in each booster series.

So, with one game reduced to a few playable decks that allow for poor innovation and money being one of the sole factors that create good players (or at least good decks), I got convinced to try the Spoils.

As of yet, I've bought some boosters and created my first very mixed Rogue/Gearsmith deck.

I've also played my first match (or at least two duels or whatever you call it in Spoils). I lost the first because of my inability to grasp speed correctly but won the second one due to a timely Rapine. ^_^

I really like the game and its mechanics, as I think it's an evolution from Magic but still a game in its infancy, with a lot of potential and almost no netdecking whatsoever in Sweden (almost no players as well, but I hope that's going to change).

So, that's me.

As a forum member, I tend to write long posts...
...but I feel we need to get some activity in this forum anyways, so I hope you won't mind. ^_^

Ahoy spoils community.
I found the spoils on a random website and decided to order some cards. My wee gaming circle in Pocatello, ID took to it right away. It was quite easy to learn the basics with some prior CCG experience and learning the strategical aspect of the game should be fun. I'm looking forward to spreading the word and expanding the player pool in our area.

Well, well now. I had been under the impression that this game was dead and buried when, lo and behold, I find this place.

I had read about this game and thought wonderful, another great game that I missed out on. Argh!

Now I may yet get the chance to take this game for a spin. Is it going to be an LCG like Blue Moon and A Game of Thrones? If so then that just piques my interest even further.

Or will it be a traditional tcg type?

So, I'm off to see what relevant information I can scrounge up around here.

Considering The Spoils has some of the best limited game play, I hope it stays a traditional TCG. As far as I can tell, that's what AT is going with, but we're waiting on the new set, so we'll see.

Welcome to the boards, and the game.

Hi, I'm NoobixCube (well, Michael, really... :p), and I figure here's as good a place as any to introduce myself.

Australian, soon to be 22, mostly play Magic (as I'm sure many people here do/did/have/might). I'm more of a forum lurker than a poster, but it all depends on the topics. When we play Magic here, I've somehow become the defacto judge (in the absence of a real judge). Considering applying to be a judge once I fully get into The Spoils. I heard about The Spoils years ago, and only remembered it a couple of days ago and thought to check up on how things were going. Lo and behold, a few releases out, with another on the way. Prime time for me to get involved :D

I wanted to buy some cards today, but I was thwarted by the only comic shop in the city being closed on Mondays (damn overgrown mining towns... NO nerd culture...). I guess I'll drop in there and see if they have any Spoils cards on my lunch break tomorrow.

You want a first impression? Look at the art on the basic resources in this thread HERE (http://www.thespoils.com/spoils/showthread.php?t=4905&highlight=resource+preview).

These are much more "appealing" than the basic Forest, Plains, etc... of that other game.
