What's a good ratio of staple resources, assuming a mono faction build aimed at using several abilities that have high (4+) threshold ?

Figure out what your highest threshold is and when you need to have it (eg. turn 4?). It also depends on if you are using dual threshold resources. I tend to run 9 staple and 4 dual if I have some heavy cards. But basicly just figure out what percentage of the deck you need based on the speed at which you draw cards. There are no cold cut rules for spoils and resources. Why don't you post your decklist and we can help figure it out.

Currently building out of a limited card pool, not particularly going for an efficient combo, one thing it does have is the pillaging pirate/tremor engine to boost adroit marauder for a cheap hitter, but that's about it.

Any of these cards have more than 2 threshold icons? If not, then you can cut your Deception down to 2.

Throat stabber is 3, dollkeeper is 3 for the effect, Auction house is 3, etc. So a no-resource build won't work with those cards.

Adroit marauder's also 3, as is master thief.
Grand theft all is 4.
That's about it. I'm trying to get used to the idea that starting 2 staple is enough for the entire deck.

20 for a mono faction that only has a few cards that needs to get up to 4 is too much. You could prolly cut that to about 12 (1/7 cards). Grand Theft all is a late game card anyways. In your starting had, just mulligan aggressively if you don't have playable cards.
