No need, the current rules handle this already, though no cards currently use it.

Just use ATTACH TO ITEM.

gear is a keyword so i was thinking along that line.....
it is a keyword correct? if it were not necessary to have the keyword gear then why is it there? possably to show the item attaches to a character?
if not then why not say ATTACH TO A CHARACTER? its already in the rules....

Just a sub-type, actually. So, Item - Augmentation with rules text: Attach to Item would do it.

Gear does all say 'Attach to Character' in their rules text.

Basically, the word 'gear' is there so 700160x 31f functions properly.
