Good day, everyone.
I'm not generally a very solid deck builder. Usually they are bloated and have some pretty miserable flaws beside that. That being said, I put this one together a short time ago with the help of a friend, and I think that this is pretty frightening, though it could probably use just a little bit of polish still.
Order of the Golden String
12 Greed (2 starting)
4 Exploitation
4 Arrogance
3 T Force 5 Megabrutemajig
3 Gore Engine
3 Sneaky Mansion
1 Dragon Tank
4 Shocking Reappearance
2 Revivatate
4 Selective Gluttony
2 First Unified Market of Abstract Theory
4 Free Trade Agreement
2 Walk the Plank
3 Writ of Reclamation
4 Gold Summit
4 Mau Party
4 Limited Liability
4 Anesthetizing Opulence
4 All-Nighter
4 Repurpose
The idea behind this deck is a simple one. Directly putting creatures into play from your discard pile via shocking reappearance and revivatate does not require that you meet the threshold costs. Therefore, this deck is designed to bring out the heaviest hitters in the game from multiple trades as cheaply as possible and early on. It also actually makes use of conspire to put the creatures where I want them. Theoretically, using this deck, I can get a sneaky mansion out on turn three through this process:
Turn 1, develop resource, draw at end of turn.
Turn 2, develop resource, conspire at end of turn, discarding a sneaky mansion.
Turn 3, play a resource. Opponent's turn 3, they attack, and I use shocking reappearance to bring out the mansion.
The gore engine is also a good choice to reappear - if I'm fighting the typical Basic Node/Basic Node/633fy 31f combo, it would kill all three and become a 10/10.
As I mill through the deck, it starts looking like the writ/bask deck toward the end, except that I just start cycling creatures in instead of bask biles. The key advantage over that setup is that I'll be putting big creatures out early in the game.
Another nice feature of this deck is Walk the Plank. All of the creatures in the deck have a cost exceeding 7 (this alone makes both shocking reappearance and revivatate the best choice to bring them out, especially with conspire giving me two cards and consistently putting creatures in the discard pile where I need them). If I stop putting greed threshold out at 6, therefore, and only play resources facedown, walk the plank will wipe all the smaller creatures my opponent may play while leaving all of mine standing. I can deal with the larger ones either with the dragon tank or through anesthetizing opulence.
F.U.M.A.S.T. is an addition to the late game writ spamming, making the cards that much cheaper to bring into my hand - it's also nice earlier if I don't have anything else to play, as it brings conspire down to the cost of a normal draw.
Gold Summit, Selective Gluttony and Mau Party should be familiar for those who've seen writ decks before.
Limited Liability keeps me alive if I can't get revives out in time, Repurpose is item control, and AO is good for character control.
Oh, and the FTAs are nice because they force my opponent to give me more cards or the potential to put some more nasty things on the board, as is always true with an FTA.
Now, this deck can have major problems against rogues. Pluck is an obvious one to cause me some major headaches, and then all the normal tricks still work against me. Jackmove in particular really hurt me in one game, where I used writ of reclamation and he jackmoved in response to me drawing from my draw pile, ending the combo entirely and leaving me with only the cards in my hand to finish the game.
Nonetheless, this deck has performed quite admirably, but I would be interested in what others have to say on it.
