Gearsmith wins! First, I'll show you an existing card. This way you can see some of the changes in the borders, etc. Yes, this does include larger icons!

Here is the Beta Micromajig Factory:

And now, for the first time anywhere, a The Spoils release card!

There it is! Later on, I'll post a Gearsmith card not found in Beta. Also this card is not at the highest resolution. I wanted to get this out before i left today. The art team will get me higher res assets later, but this gets the idea across :).

This...looks...good...

220 cards in the release set though? That would only be 20 cards we haven't seen? I thought the release was going to be 300?

Next question: Is it possible to get "Micromajig token" cards that AREN'T foiled? I'd much rather have non-foiled cards to play with.

Was worried about the re-working of the cards. Nice big threshold icons and a larger structure area. Nice.

So there are 12 new cards before Gearsmith letter M. Interesting.

EDIT: There is almost too much space between the old and the new preview. Had to scroll up and down alot to look for changes.

WOW! I'm just staring at it...WOW... That's really amazing. The art is fantastic and the improvements to space utilization and size of icons is significant.

WOW

Did I mention WOW?

Amazing....straight up amazing. I love the are and the threshold being larger. I could not find a single thing I wanted changed that wasn't...except i thought it was 300 cards not 220...

Nice. At first I thought there was some space lost, but then I realized everything just got a little bigger.

It's a little bright for me (gasp, the light! or maybe that's just this card's color scheme?) I like the old stucture icons with cement, brick, towers, etc. I hope they come back in use. But for the most part, the text and icons being larger is great.

Hot damn, that's a sexy looking card. Art is a tad too Willy-Wonkaish for my taste, but I love the new card layout.

The structure symbol will be missed, but I think these newer larger symbols are far more clear, which is for the better. :D

Can't wait for Bakers and Arc's!

WOW.At first I wasnt liking it but the more I look at it,the better it looks. The only problem I have with it is that everything looks...I dont know...candy-ised.Still looks good, but Im gonna stay with my beta art ones. The structure Icon seems abit big though...I can see a noob think that 5 is the cost seeing as how the number is bigger then the cost number.

Very colorful.

I hate to be a party pooper, art looks amazing, but I love the faces on the structures in the original. It had more character in the Beta Art. It just seems really lifeless in the Release version.

Yeah, that's how I feel (thus my Willy Wonka comment). I don't feel like the art capture's the Gearsmith's personality I'd grown to love. (Essentric patchwork machines, as opposed to magical cotton candy machines.) I prefer the cogs and gears and steampunk style that we saw in Beta.

Not to say it BAD,just not what youd expect in a more "mature" game.As you said GWN,its not what the gearsmiths are known for.

Is there any way that we could get a color version of the original? :X

I mean... look at these guys (micromajig tokens).

I could see them coming out of a factory with turnkeys and faces made of knobs and dials before I could see them coming out of the Chocolate Factory.

Why did everyone think it was 300? I've know it was 220 all along. Then again, I also know the rarities of the 20 additional cards. I must admit to not knowing more than that (and not even sure if I am allowed to reveal it, so I won't), but I don't remember ever seeing TG saying it was 300 - did they?

I like the larger number for Structure, though I do miss having a little structure behind it. The circle is a bit bland. I'm going to have to agree with others that the new art seems a bit off from what I expected. I think the game had been saying Steampunk or Mad Science, and now it sort of says...Jetsons or something. I don't know. It certainly isn't the grime, cogs, and wrenches I was used to.

Yes originally TG did say it was 300. Take a look at some of the oldest posts. Nice of you to say after the fact that you knew the number. Care to share the rarity of the 20 before the fact?

On a completely different note can anyone make out what the set symbol is next to the set number and rarity.

I love the bigger icons but the old structure icon I like better along with the old art. It does seem more childish then anything else we have seen. I hope the trend doesn't continue. I can't figure out the set icon either. It looks like an underlined N or A1. Can anyone else see it better?

If memory serves me correctly, the number 300 came from the article in ICV2.

No offense Scott, but it's getting really annoying hearing how much "you know but can't tell us."

Welcome to the world of the internetz. . . where everyone claims to know more than everyone else.

Love the new card, though I will have to agree with the change from a structure icon to a white circle.

I don't mind the goofy art, it kinda fits the theme of the micromajig in general, in my opinion.

Some brave soul could try to photoshop a coloured version if they had the time, I'll take a crack at it when I get home, but all I have is mspaint, so don't expect too much. :p

Yeah, I gotta say I'd expect a card like this to produce Oompa Loompas rather than Majiigs. My cheif problem with the art other than the candy coating is that it doesn't really even look that mechanical any more, seems like some sort of castle type of deal now.

Jedi - I didn't know they had expansion symbols for The SPpils (yet), did the Beta version have them as well?

The Open Beta has a little tag that says "Beta" on it.

I'm assuming that the release set symbol is some sort of icon with a "1" next to it. I thought I saw somewhere that it was going to be called the First Edition, as well.

WOW, simply beautiful.

I don't know about anyone else, but I think the art fits the gearsmith's perfectly. An 31f with a cape blowing in the wind overseeing his factory. It's almost as if he's about to shout "bw4h4h4h4h4!!!11 ph3412 73h m1c120m4j16s!!1 7h3y w1ll pwn j005!"

The resource icons are the best part. Most players at their first event around here were complaining about their size.

As for the rarities for those 20 cards, I think I stumbled onto an interesting fact.

199 cards (not counting Voidal Webbing)
43 Rares, 67 Uncommons, 89 Commons

Arcanist:
39 cards (not counting Voidal Webbing)
8R, 14U, 17C
13 Characters, 16 Tactics, 3 Locations, 7 Items of which 3 are Gear

Banker:
41 cards
9R, 15U, 17C
21 Characters, 13 Tactics, 3 Locations, 4 Items of which 1 is Gear

Gearsmith:
39 cards
8R, 13U, 18C
16 Characters, 9 Tactics, 2 Locations, 12 Items of which 5 are Gear

Rogue:
41 cards
10R, 12U, 19C
24 Characters, 12 Tactics, 1 Location, 4 Items of which 1 is Gear

Warlord:
39 cards
8R, 13U, 18C
21 Characters, 11 Tactics, 2 Locations, 5 Items of which 1 is Gear

~doc8466, TheSpoils.com

So, if you consider the maximum number for each rarity to be the highest number of that rarity across all trades, you would get:
10R, 15U, 19C

(10 + 15 + 19) = 44
44 * 5 = 220

So, if each trade included those 44 cards, the total set size would be 220.

Then, if you add cards to each trade to get them to this point, you would get:
Arcanist + 2R, 1U, 2C = 5
Banker + 1R, 2C = 3
Gearsmith + 2R, 2U, 1C = 5
Rogue + 3U = 3
Warlord + 2R, 2U, 1C = 5

That equals 21 total cards, 1 of which is Voidal Webbing (a common), which was not counted in Doc's set breakdown. So, the remaining 20 cards should be:
7 Rares
8 Uncommons
5 Commons

The final result should be:
Arcanist gets 2 Rares, 1 Uncommon, and 1 Common.
Banker gets 1 Rare and 2 Commons.
Gearsmith gets 2 Rare, 2 Uncommons, and 1 Common.
Rogue gets 3 Uncommons.
Warlord gets 2 Rares, 2 Uncommons, and 1 Common.

That is, unless I messed up the math somewhere.

Hey all! I gotta say I absolutely love the new card. The new larger icons are especially nice to see.;) The bright colorful artwork is actually pretty cool in my opinion. It is nice to see some color on these cards, sure its not all deep grey and black but that would be boring to look at all the time set after set..........Great artwork, cool idea, and the new, larger structure icon will make it easier for the noob to be able to see whats going on from across the table. I can't wait to see more!:D

I can see the faces still in the picture. You just have to look harder.

I gotta say, I really like the card art.

Ok, i really love the new art. I am kinda sad to see the beta art never getting its shot at color. An interesting thought though would be to do alternate art cards as prizes (Silimar to how some games do extended arts) that are colored versions of beta art cards.
