well, i've looked through a few posts and really haven't seen a whole lot so i thought i would just ask straight forward:
those of you that ran the WCC 2008, how many players did you have attend?
did all stores that were listed as running the WCC 2008 actually run the event?
if all retailers could chime in here and post attendance i would certainly appreciate it. thank you for your time everyone!

Antioch, IL: 4 people.
Realize, however, that this is a Constructed Champs. Since there's no real major prize payout (as opposed to Invitationals) there is generally a smaller turnout. As well, this is Chicago we're talking about. Nobody shows up to begin with (we got 6 last time.)

Dream Wizards had 4 players there but we didn't run the tournament because our shop said they didn't have the uncut sheet or foils.

Another part of that was the ridiculous presence of Yu-Gi-Oh! kiddies, Warhammer guys, and some Clicks game people.

Seriously, there should have been at least 17 players in attendance, but the holiday weekend stole away too many people. I can think of a certain family of four who missed out, three players who had to work, and where is Ultra Rare Eli? I'm guessing the Easter Bunny had something to do with it. Stupid Easter Bunny...

We had a mere 6 in AZ, there were several spectators that play and love the game that were silent protestors to the event and many, many more that did not show. IMO if checks had been delivered in a timely manner after SeeD release. This number would have easily reached 30 or more/.

So, uh, average number of ppl under 10 per state...
Where as before was like 20+
No updates or new news ever...
No sets being produced...
No prize payouts received...
Less intake of cash for TG with diminishing player base...
You think this game is going to last?
Leave it to TG to make a booming game esp in AZ at 30-45 players at its height to drop down to 6 and soon with no events lined up ever...0
How can a game that's major catch was to hold Premier Pro Events think it has a chance when it doesn't even ever get one off the ground? Especially now with under 50 players world wide. Their income must be nill.
Why are people even working on Seed decks or playing in events with no promise of reward or future?

Because we enjoy the game, regardless of reward.

For pure love of the game and its total FUN factor.
True I've not been around long enough or lucky enough to be owed $, so I can enjoy this game for what it is, a GAME.

Yeah...at the end of the day it's still a great game. Also, they've gotten smart and are providing prizes (uncut sheets and promos and stuff) that easy to maintain.
I feel like people who bring up the big fabulous prizes are putting TG in a catch 22. There's always the pessimistic attitude that there are no events, so TG schedules events with modest prize support (read: WLC, WCC) and then they cry, these prizes aren't on the same level as you promised us like 2 years ago!!! That's not fair. Either you want events that TG can, and will, provide you prizes for, or you want them to provide you unreasonable prizes which means no events. Pick one.

I happen to like the idea of prizes... it is more of a bragging right to have an uncut sheet

If you want to bitch and whine about TG there is already a thread for it. That thread can be located here

This thread is for WCC discussion.

See the thing is The Spoils from the get go was never supposed to be a casual gamer/modest prize support type of game. It was built to attract competitive minded people with big competitive tournaments...that's it. Not to put out some fun sets (2) and have people casually game it from time to time...even tho that is what it has become. I am not so much JUST hating on The Spoils for their lack of everything, but so much as turning the game into something it was never supposed to be. Mostly, just venting that a huge gamer base in this game, especially in my area, has gone completely south (which is directly related to attendance Klown) as I loved this game so much. I helped build the base, attracting them with promises of huge competitive events and bus tours and cruises, and having none of them come to fruition. I was excitedly looking forward to competitively playing it as well as all of the other members of my team who have qualified for the whatever tournament, but without the signiture event that the entire first 2 years were built around how can this game expect NOT to die out. I mean I love the game and hope they can put something together, but it might be too late.

I hear ya that the original call was for big tournaments, but the facts are that they cannot do that at this time...so they run small events just to keep things going and let people play for nifty knick knacks. I don't mind because at least it shows that they're trying.
We should really take this conversation to the other thread though.

Well, all in all, it sounds like the Wcc's were a lot of fun. Congrats to all who were able to attend and play, high 5's to all the winners!!! Those uncut sheets have GOT to be super cool.

Well at the WCC, I conceded to a player who didn't have enough points to go on the cruise to Imagination Land.
If I did happen to win the sheet, you would have seen a link to a video of me ripping it in half.
Great time had by all in the ATL :)

As much as I love this game and as much as that would have killed a part of me to witness, I still can't help but think that would have been a VERY, VERY funny video. You would have to do it really slow too.....so that we can hear the cardboard ripping, it would have added to the effect. Just to laugh at dorks like me who would cry about it. :p
