This Open Beta tournament idea sounds a little farfetched. I mean, when the set comes out in August, tournaments will immediately pop up, right? Then in October, the finals will be held? It sounds too quick. I think it may take longer than 2 months for a game to catch on fast enough to start selling to the masses.

Those tournaments will just be for Beta Testing, they wont organize a large professional series of Tournaments until after November when the full game is released, the only people who will attend the beta tournaments, will have already heard of the game by that point. I wouldn't worry about it, if you hadn't noticed, this is the official site and we're the only two people posting now. ;)

Plus almost every single tournament will be limited in some format. Then only one that I think is not is the Sunday tournament at GenCon. They could change that one too....I hope not though.

I just think the production value of putting out 2 sets in that time frame would be enormous.

bear in mind that 190 cards from open beta are going into standard release

so all they really have to do is reprint those, with a few more sheets, and repackage them...

doesnt seem like that much too me imo

The materials for the cards cost a good amount, and making the same cards just seems like a waste IMO.

No one can buy the game (as in a customer buying packs at a store) until November. Everything through October is under Open Beta, including the
$10k final event.
