Define: Control

Please define Control, in the context used by The Spoils.

Off the top of my head, Ghostly Auditor is a card that I don't understand what control means. There are several other cards which refer to this as well.

Does control refer to the cards in play that are not depleted?

Cards on the table are "in play" as I understand it. Are all of those cards "in my control", or just those which are not depleted right now?

The controller of a card in play means the person that played it or put it into play (unless something states otherwise). Whether or not something is depleted or not has nothing to do with control.
