Hello fellow Spoils players. I have decided to start a team for all the players out there who are the "one lone gamer" in their area.
I am in Des Moines, IA trying to turn my friends (who are non gamers) into Spoils players with minimum luck.:p
Anyway I was joking in another thread about it but decided it may not be a bad idea. It would be a great way for the lone players to have people to playtest and talk about deck ideas with. (on line of course)
There is software out there to play The Spoils with. I just haven't figured out exactly what to download and how to modify/run the software once I do get it. There is also, of course Instant messaging and this site to see when each other is on line.
Your current play skills or STE points are not important to be able to join. The only things important are your love of The Spoils, willingness to grow and learn as a player, and you must be willing to work as a "team" even if it's with people you may never meet.:)
What I mean by working as a team is sharing ideas, helping each other with deck building and play testing, and constructive criticism to improve every members chances of making it to the boat.;)
I know it's a long shot but anything is possible. With enough people and practice we could actually meet at a CON or something like that and be the first team of people who don't even know each other to walk away victorious together.
Ok, who's with me for this crazy (but I feel is good) idea?
Edit: If you would like to join Please PM me and let me know. I would like to get all of us on the same IM so we can chat/share ideas. I use yahoo instant messenger. I will edit this post to include member names and if you put it in your sig as well, that will keep us more organized. I will PM you my actual e-mail address to add me to your IM. I am on pretty much every day and can be up late on Tuesdays and Saturdays with my current work schedule. Thanks.

Great idea for a team. While I'm not exactly talented as a player, nor "all alone" as the player in my area, I'm interested at least in how well this turns out.
You'll probably use Magic Workstation w/ a spoils base (the base is somewhere around these forums) to actually play.

Hello Team. :)
Last night I finally got around to downloading and installing the proper software for playing The Spoils on line. aldrinanymous and myself were on there and I was having some issues that I eventually was able to resolve. We plan on doing some on line deck testing soon and I would like the rest of the team to get on board as well. If any of you need assistance with getting this set up just let me know and I will help you out.

Good deal sdesiano.:) I hope to see you on.
Is everyone cool with meeting and chatting on yahoo messenger? I was hoping to get everyone organized and be able to chat on there. Yahoo messenger also has a conference mode so that we can all chat together at once and it also contains voice chat, wich I beileve will be invaluable when playing together online. It will make game play run a lot smoother and quicker (not to mention way more fun:p ) I am actually going today and buying a headset/mic combo to assist with this as well. Talking in real time while playing seems like a good idea to me. What do all of you think?
Also I recently downloaded Mirc so we could also chat/meet in The Spoils room on there. This is very esy to do and there are easy to follow instructions on how to set it up in the thread "come chat The Spoils"
Just trying to get us all organized. If any of you have any ideas, thoughts or suggestions please feel free to post them here. All of us sharing these ideas and communication is key to team :spade: One Lone Gamer:spade: being successful.
Thanks -Dave

Not sure about that, I don't have a video game system. :p
I did get the opportunity to play today with Froto and the headsets aren't really necessary as I thought they would be. It would be nice to have them, but it's really ok without it. If you guys want to do the headset idea then I am all for it. Just let me know and I will go with whatever the team thinks would be best for everyone.:)

I was looking at a local retail store today and a headset/mic can be had for roughly $15-$20............probably depends on where you go.

I'm guessing online play is dead by now?

Well I would have to assume so because people don't talk about it much anymore.

Well assuming Seed is coming out, there's not much need to practice online... Limited will have all new cards and Constructed will have new additions, probably making the old decks change to accomodate the new cards.

I was just wondering, since online seems to be the more available option for play for this team, as opposed to other teams where the members usually have enough opponents in their area to play with. Oh well.

Psssht. Make a community!! I'm still working on my new college one, but there's already 5 (about to be 6) players.

There was, about 8 people at our store, and we had a series of events that everyone said they were going to attend, and no one showed up. Ever. Even my best friend, who asked me to play at those events, didn't go. So once a month (hopefully, we've only been able to arrange one trip so far) we have 3 guys who have the same problem 3 hours away come down and play for the day. They're lucky, since they have three there vs. one (me) here, but I'm a lot closer to NY and Boston then they are, so I *could* drive 3 hours to play there if I wanted to... I suppose I'm lucky to be their community contact.
