View Full Version : Some Rules Questions
Hi,
New to this great game. Most of the rules are self explanatory, most of the issues for me seem to be timing rules.
Could someone help me with this:
I have a Sneaking Spitspider, A Quotidian Ejector with two tokens on it,
I also have a Servile Centipede in attacking position.
Opponent has a Jacque's Trap in play, after attack is declared the Jacque's Trap is destroyed and the Sneaking Spitspider is it's target.
Question 1
Does Sneaking Spitspider 2 damage still apply or is negated by the Jacque's Trap?
Question 2
If Quotidian Ejector removes 2 tokens from it's card, can he target the Sneaking Spitspider before it is destroyed by the Jacques's Trap, thus being returned to it's ownwers hand.
Thanks.

Welcome!
I'm not sure what relevance the Sneaking Spitspider has. Also, I think you meant Servile Centipede in your two questions, as it's the one attacking. Anyway, here are some answers:
1. You pick an attacking character when you pay the cost for using Jacque's Trap's ability. If you use this ability before battle damage has been assigned (step 4 in "How to Resolve a Battle"), then the attacking character will not assign/inflict battle damage. If you use Jacque's Trap's ability after battle damage has been assigned (during step 6 of "How to Resolve a Battle"), then the battle damage will be inflicted, even if the attacking character has left play.
2. Correct. If you control the attacking character, and your opponent uses the ability of Jacque's Trap, you may respond by using the ability of Quotidian Ejector to return it to its owner's hand. Note that you pay all costs for these abilities when you use them, so the Jacque's Trap is still destroyed.
Hope this helps!

Sorry I didn't word the question properly.
All 3 cards including the Sneaking Spitspider were attacking. My opponent used the Jacque's Trap on the Spider, as it is unblockable due to it's Covert status.
I then used the Quotidian Ejectors ability to bounce the Spider back into my hand after the Jacque's Trap was destroyed and targeting my Spider.
From your answer, it seems that we were doing the chain of events correctly with the Spider as well!
Since my opponent used the Trap's ability right after I declared attackers, we were correct in not assigning damage to him. Thanks for affirming our understanding.
Thanks for your help!
